More than 100 die in Jodhpur temple stampede



More than 100 people were killed and over 100 injured in a major stampede at the Chamunda Devi Temple in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Devotees had gathered in large numbers at the temple for offering prayers on the occasion of Navaratri. (read more)

Indian Mujahideen threatens to 'kill Advani'


Terror group Indian Mujahideen on Thursday threatened to eliminate leader of India`s main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lal Krishna Advani, using suicide bombers during his scheduled visit to Meghalaya next week. (read more )

The multiple terror attacks that struck the national capital on Saturday were the fifth since May this year. In the last four months, Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad within the country and the Indian embassy in Kabul have been targeted.
This begs the obvious question: Is the Indian state unable or unwilling to prevent such attacks and protect its citizens?

Tata; may pull out of West Bengal


Tata Motors today said it was preparing to withdraw its Nano car project from West Bengal. The company said it is evaluating alternative options for manufacturing the car at other company facilities.
“In view of the current situation, the company is evaluating alternative options for manufacturing the Nano car at other company facilities and a detailed plan to relocate the plant and machinery to an alternate site is under preparation,” a Tata Motors statement said.
Karnataka, Haryana, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Gujarat said Tata Motors was welcome to relocate the Nano project to their states. Read more (Tata; may pull out of West Bengal)
